What is Reclaimed Wood?

      When you hear someone say they have a reclaimed wood table, what does that mean?

In most cases, they are referring to reclaimed barn wood such as barn board or threshing floor however, any wood that has been reused for a new purpose is technically reclaimed wood.

Most reclaimed wood builders are located in the Kitchener Waterloo and St. Jacobs area and use exclusively reclaimed barn board and threshing floor from recycled barns. In some cases builders will coat the reclaimed wood tables in a hard epoxy resin coating to protect the character of the timeless materials for years to come.

​      At Grain and Burl, not only do we specialize reclaimed timber barn wood, but also we utilize other woods and materials in order to achieve many different looks and styles to our custom furniture. This includes, live edge tables, epoxy river tables, New wood tables like walnut, maple and exotic hardwoods. We also use exotic and rare burl wood for our custom furniture.
